Dolphins – Reception/Derbynfa
Croeso i Ddosbarth Dolfin!
Welcome to the Dolphin Class.

This year myself, Miss Thomas, Mr. Birtwistle, Mrs. Bowen and Mrs. Davies will be here to teach, support, guide and care for you all. We hope to have a fantastic year and we look forward to getting to know about each and every one of you.
Our entrance and collection points will be on the patio area at the front of the school, with the doors being open from 8:50 at the start of the day and from 3:20 at home time, where we will dismiss the children one at a time. We do ask for your patience at the start of the year, as this could take a little time as we start to learn new faces.
Our topic this Spring term is ‘Tales from Wales’ . This will see us learning about our wonderful country and different stories linked to it.
To help the weeks roll by as smoothly as possible here are some details for our every day routines in class.
P.E
P.E will be on a Monday afternoon and will be dance for this half term – Move It Monday! Please send your child into school dressed in suitable clothing every week that allow for easy movement and comfort.
Outdoor Learning
Outdoor learning in Coed Cadno will be on a Wednesday afternoon. Children will need wellies and a suitable waterproof coat. These can be sent into school and can either be kept in school in a named bag, or come and go as needed each week.
Water bottles and snacks
We believe that children should have access to water throughout the day and ask you to provide your child with a clearly labelled water bottle. Water bottles will be sent home to be washed and refilled daily. If you wish, you can also provide your child with a small, healthy fruit snack, which they will enjoy at morning break. All need to be very clearly named as they often get misplaced and tracking them down is tricky if there are no names on them, as the children are so young they often do not recognise their own things.
Fancy Dress Friday
Every last Friday of the month, we will have a dressing up day. It is just meant to be a bit of fun for everyone, so do not worry if you do not haver anything to match the theme, just let the children come in whatever they feel happy in!

General Information
It is often a good idea to put a spare change of underwear and trousers/leggings in your child’s bag, in case of any accidents, as they are still so young.
The school menu choices are available to view online, and we recommend you look over them to ensure your child does like the options available each day.
I will post a weekly newsletter here at the end of each week to let families know the learning we have been doing in class and to let you know of any events coming up.
Finally, I want to reiterate a warm welcome to you all and to let you know that our door is always open, should you need us in any way. Here’s to a wonderful year working, learning and having fun together.
Many thanks,
Miss Thomas, Mr. Birtwistle, Mrs. Bowen and Mrs. Davies
