Starting nursery is a big step and parents/carers may have questions and queries that you would like to ask about what to expect. What do pupils do in Nursery?
Nursery is the first step in a pupil’s educational journey. Our aim is to provide pupils with learning experiences and opportunities to develop their curiosity and creativity, whilst developing personal and social skills that will allow them to make friends and work with others. Pupils settle into school life and get used to routines. Pupils know what to expect and how to behave appropriately and use the classroom environment to learn. in nursery, there is a variety of areas for pupils to play in and structured tasks for pupils to learn in small groups. The school follows the curriculum for Wales. Staff monitor your child’s progress and set tasks appropriate to their needs.
What time does School start/finish for nursery?
Morning Nursery: 8.50am until 11.40am
Afternoon Nursery: 1.00pm until 3:20pm (starts January 2025)
What should pupils wear?

If your child is known to have an occasional wetting accident, we would ask that you also provide spare underwear in their school bag.
Where are pupils based?
Pupils are based the nursery demountable. This consists of a large classroom and outdoor area. Both offer pupils a variety of different opportunities to develop new skills. All areas are filled with resources and equipment appropriate to pupils’ ages and developmental needs. This includes creative areas, writing areas, sand, water, painting, books, IT area and accessible toilets.
Pupils learn outdoors at school, and this makes them messy. For outdoor tasks, please can pupils wear/bring waterproof clothing (jacket and trousers – not all in one suits due to toileting). We work outdoors in all weathers, therefore it is important that pupils have the right equipment to keep them warm and dry.
Will my child need to bring anything with them?
Equipment and resources are provided for pupils. Staff provide fruit for pupils at a price of six pounds per half term.
Please can pupils bring a water bottle. Squash and juice are not allowed.
