Jellyfish – Nursery/Meithrin

We are so excited to welcome you and your children to our nursery and look forward to a wonderful year of learning, playing and exploring together. We hope that this page will help you find lots of useful information about life in Jellyfish Class, including important updates, activities and helpful guidance for parents and carers. We hope you enjoy following our nursery adventures!

This term our topic is My World and Me. We will explore all the people, places and things that are important and familiar to us. We will begin by learning about ourselves, our families and the people who care for us, while also celebrating what makes each of us special and unique.

We will explore our homes, our local area and the wider world around us, helping the children to develop a sense of belonging and an understanding of the community in which they live.We will make the most of our outdoor space, using it to explore, investigate and play. As the weeks progress, we will encourage the children to notice and talk about changes in the seasons and weather, observing how the world around us changes throughout the year.

Through a range of fun, practical and creative experiences, the children will have opportunities to share their own experiences, learn about the experiences of others and develop their curiosity about the world around them.

Our School Day

  • Drop-off time: 8:50 AM
  • Pick-up time: 11:40 AM

Our entrance and collection points will be on the play area at the front of the Nursery building. Please try to be on time to ensure you child doesn’t become unsettled. We will dismiss the children one at a time and thank you in advance for your patience.

Water bottles and Snacks

Please could you to provide your child with a clearly labelled water bottle . Water bottles will be sent home to be washed and refilled daily. A healthy snack will also be provided daily and we have a chocolate biscuit treat on a Friday! For this, including cooking opportunities we ask for £6 every half term. If you wish you can choose to pay termly ( £12) or yearly (£36).

Outdoor Learning

The children will be given the option to learn outside everyday as long as the weather allows. We will also have the option of visiting Coed Cadno ( our on site woodland area) on a Wednesday. It is important that the children have wellies available to them, if you could please provide a labelled pair to keep in school.

Clothing

Please could we have labelled spare clothes ( a change of underwear, a pair of leggings/trousers, socks) in a bag to preferably stay in school, in case of any accidents.

School Uniform

If possible, we would like all children to wear school uniform. If this is not possible, for the first few weeks, please ensure that your child’s ‘everyday’ clothes are clean and school-appropriate.

You can purchase uniform from J & S products in Sketty.

Library books and book bags

Library books will be sent home every Friday to be returned on Monday. If possible please could you purchase a book bag for your child. J & S products in Sketty sell Hendrefoilan School bags at a cost of £7.50.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to you all and look forward to working with you. Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any further questions. We all want your child’s first experience at school/return to school to be a happy and exciting one.

Many thanks,

Mrs Dolbear, Mrs Fairweather and Miss Jojo
